Learning Express Toys, the nation’s largest educational toy retailer, welcomed its newest franchise to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina on August 22. Mayor of Mt. Pleasant, Linda Page, and Councilmen Chris O’Neal and Mark Smith greeted customers during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
In conjunction with the Grand Opening, local owners Ken, Leah, and Kelly King partnered with Headbands of Hope! For every headband purchased, one is given to a girl with cancer, and $1 is donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fund life-saving childhood cancer research. “All headbands that were donated will go to the girls at our local hospital,” says owner Kelly King. “More than 75 headbands and buffs will be given to the girls and boys in the Pediatric Cancer Program at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston, SC, on September 1, 2014!”

Located adjacent to a large lifestyle center, Learning Express Toys of Mt. Pleasant held three days of events and sales for their Grand Opening weekend. There were door prizes, face painting, and visits from Elmo, Cupcake the Clown, Queen Elsa, and Princess Anna.
Kelly, who is overseeing all aspects of the store, was born and raised in North Carolina and is particularly excited to be back on a Carolina coast. She is operating the store on a day-to-day basis with her childhood best friend, Alex Strang. “Mt. Pleasant is a thriving and growing community in which Alex and I are happy to be a part of and call home,” says Kelly. Learning Express Toys of Mt. Pleasant is located in the heart of town, adjacent to the Mt. Pleasant Town Centre. “The Centre continues to grow, and we are eager to establish our roots within it,” says Kelly.
Kelly looks forward to offering customers a fun, family oriented experience at Learning Express Toys of Mt. Pleasant. “I have always viewed the power of play as a vital aspect in the development of a child’s imagination and creativity,” says Kelly. “I am excited to provide children with endless opportunities to play, as well as to play right alongside them!”
